I don't dislike Hillary Clinton. As a politician and lawmaker I respect her hard-nosed tenacity and ability to put it all on the line for what she believes is right.
However, I do have a major problem with the cast of characters she has surrounded herself with in 2008. Whether it was the former President's remarks in South Carolina or the recent Geraldine Ferraro fiasco, Hillary's surrogates and staff have made her appear much more hateful than I believe she truly is.
But of all her moronic staffers, none of them really takes the cake like Mark Penn. You all remember
Mark Penn, right?
"Could we possibly have a nominee who hasn’t won any of the significant states — outside of Illinois? That raises some serious questions about Sen. Obama."
That's right folks, good old 'your votes don't matter' Mark Penn.
Well, frankly I'm pretty damn sick of this line of attack.
At first it struck me as funny. The idea that Penn thought that he could win the nomination by ridiculing those who voted against Hillary. However, the more he and the rest of the campaign have dragged this line of attack out the more infuriating it has become for me.
See, I'm living in Connecticut - one of the irrelevant states. I'm a loyal Democrat who has worked on US Senate, Congressional, State and Mayoral races for the Democratic Party. Therefore, it really pisses me off when somebody tells me that my vote doesn't count.
It is now over a month and a half to go until Pennsylvania holds there primary. I don't have to tell anybody here how important that primary is as a means of ending this thing. Simply put, if Obama can win the state, he wraps up the nomination.
That's why I am proposing a modest fundraising effort for him. Every Friday from now until April 18th, I'm going to write a diary urging anyone who has been pissed off by the Clinton campaign's line of attack that they don't matter to donate a couple of bucks to this fund. I set up the fundraising page today.
Got a dollar on ya? From one of the fantastic 30? Please consider throwing it towards our effort.
Every dollar helps.
My fellow irrelevant Dems, there are way more of us, than there are of them and we have the ability to make our voices heard. Just take a look at the list of irrelevant states:
Irrelevant States of America Map
Obviously if you are from one of "relevant" states that Hillary won, we would more than welcome you're help as well.
Thanks a lot for reading and I hope that I am not alone in my anger towards Penn & Co. over there condesending campaign strategy.
