I'm not really a language bigot. I think our language is a very malleable and useful tool... but
I am soooooooooooooooooo sick of pundits on Television starting every sentence with the word "look."
"Look....if Hillary Clinton blah blah blah..."
"Look...George Bush has a problem blah blah blah"
"Look...Barack Obama has to start blah blah blah"
"Look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look..." It's getting such that I don't hear anything that someone says after that word just because it's so dang over used!
What do they think - if they say "look," that I'm somehow going to end up more engaged than I was before? Do they think that when I turn on the news that I'm only partially "looking," and they have to grab my attention back? It's like they "know" the "truth" and they're going to reveal it in it's pure and simplest form....easily comprehendable by the unwashed masses.
"Look...you just put a stamp on the envelope and the US Postal service delivers it."
Oh...THANK YOU wise pundit....
Am I the only one who's being driven nuts by this? What's your pet peeve?
