TPM has McCain's first general election ad.
I know that McCain is not much for subtlety, but this is absurd:
The announcer ends the ad with this new, ultra-patriotic slogan: "John McCain: The American president Americans have been waiting for."
Any doubt whom he thinks he's running against at this point?
Is this a campaign ad or an SNL parody? Watch it and it will keep you guessing all the way through. The voice-over tone is killer, and I could listen all day to the way the announcer asks: "Has he walked the walk?" (cut to McCain as prisoner of war!). It's all a foggy haze of uber-masculinity cult of personality crap. "Never surrender!" This war-mongering fascism is going to get thick and scary this fall.
Oh, and is there any doubt left that McCain thinks he will be facing Obama this fall? Maybe the America hating, Muslim/Anti-Christian/RadicalAnti-WhiteChristian, strangely named African American from Kenya via the madrassa?
If the message stays this ham-handed Obama will knock this crap out of the park.
PS. Where are the lapel flags? Picture after picture of the grim, manly McCain, no lapel flag. So that would make him a closet America-hater right? I am so confused...
PPS. Have you noticed the similarity between the McCain logo (black and gold color scheme, star) and the US Army color scheme and logo? I don't think that is a coincidence. (I guess the more appropriate for McCain US Navy logo is not masculine enough). McCain doesn't just "support the troops"(TM), he IS the troops! But I wonder if he checked with my brother-in-law serving in the Army in Iraq right before coopting his symbols and patriotism...
