I haven't had the chance to read a whole lot of diaries here tonight, but my sense is that Obama supporters might have been less than absolutely gracious in offering our congratulations. It's understandable. I know I have been getting wrapped up in this contest, have volunteered, and have felt some frustration tonight. But we need to set that aside, be gracious democrats, and extend our congratulations to Hillary and her supporters tonight. We've had some big wins, and we know that it feels good.
We may not agree with all of Sen.Clinton's tactics in these last few weeks, but the fact is, she won three states tonight. In the end, winning is what these candidates are judged on. That's the bottom line, not inevitabilty, electabilty, or the ability to inspire.
As an Obama supporter, this thought gives me confidence. He's still ahead, and I believe that what's happening now will only strengthen him-- if he is truly the best candidate. Hillary isn't bringing anything up that Obama wouldn't see from McCain. We can't complain about nasty or untruthful attacks. We need to fight them better. Obama needs to fight them better. And the reason I think tonight was a good night for him is that, so far, he's only risen to the challenge when he's faced a setback. Think about how cool that is. What a good quality to have in a president. Whenever he's been pushed down, he's raised his game. I have a feeling that's what we'll see again. So for tonight, congrats to Hillary and her supporters. You earned some solid wins tonight. It's all good. Us Obama supporters shouldn't try to diminsh her wins, because we've seen how ungracious that appears. All states matter, and Hillary did well tonight.
This is a historic campaign and we should all be excited to be a part of it. Let's let the remainder of this campaign be as hard-fought and enthusiastic as it has been so far.
