"If you want to know the truth about a man, ask his ex-mistress." Unfortunately, the Bush syndicate is like other crime families[1]: a good soldier will remains loyal, even if the Boss shoots them in the face. The Clinton syndicate is practically as close-knit, but a key member of their "inner circle" has switched teams, proving that if the price is right, "there is no honor among thieves."
To say that Dick Morris is a member of the oldest profession would be to unfairly demean hard-working ladies of the evening. He oozes under the door like a Ken Mehlman (I met Mehlman once, and had an overpowering urge to take a long shower). But in "schemes hatched in Hell, there are no angels for witnesses."
With Republicans, it's money ... and with the Democrats, it's always sex!
-- comedian Mark Russell
Believe it or not, kiddies, way back in the day -- before Mark Foley, Larry Craig, David Vitter, et al., ad nauseum, this was true. And true to form, in the heat of Clinton's re-election campaign, it leaked out that Morris had been caught sucking the toes of D.C. prostitute Sherry Rowlands. Team Clinton threw him under the bus, and he has never forgiven them. And when you are utterly bereft of morals, and there is nowhere left to go, FAUX News will take you in.
This morning, Morris writes at Townhall.com:
Hillary was a strong supporter of NAFTA. Her official schedule reveals that she attended meetings designed to promote its passage and her memoir, Living History betrays no hint of any opposition to her husband’s key legislative accomplishment of his first two years in office — the ratification of NAFTA.
Hillary and I spoke frequently through all of 1993 and 1994 and together we plotted to help NAFTA ratification. She was deeply involved in the decision to enlist past presidents in supporting the bill and followed the vote count with heightening anxiety as it appeared closer and closer.
That she could totally reinvent her record, turn it around 180 degrees, and expect us to fall for it, shows her arrogance and her continuing belief that she can sell us on anything, no matter how obviously false.
Trade was no side issue in the Clinton administration; it was central to his key worldview — that he had to lead America to compete successfully in the new global e conomy. His refusal to submit to protectionism or to legislation to reduce layoffs — his commitment to the free market — was a singular badge of courage in his presidency. For Hillary to indicate now so fundamental a disagreement with a policy so integral to her husbands’ presidency is transparently phony. [source]
Again, you have to consider the source, but in light of Hillary's stirring tale of her heroic assault upon Tuzla, when it comes to credibility, neither side is particularly well-endowed.
When seen through the lens of the corporate media, American politics has become a bizarre fusion of Survivor and Mystery Science Theater 3000. Whenever a politician comes even close to telling the raw truth -- whether it be Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, John Edwards, or most recently, Barack Obama -- he or she is smacked down in a body-slam that would rattle Jesse Ventura's teeth.
I'm one of those angry people out in the hinterlands who is just getting tired of being lied to by the corporate subsidiaries in Congress. I have Ralphed before (pursuant to an agreement with a Florida supporter to vote for Gore, as I live in what was once a "safe" red state), and if Hillary is the Party's nominee, I will certainly Ralph again.
