Nielsen Online has released the top 30 "news" sites on the web for the month of March and I was surprised to see Daily Kos near the top of the list. Really the truth is I was shocked to learn that there are so many people out there who still are not honoring the strike called for by some of the most ever celebrated "unique visitors" to daily kos.
The data below is from Nielsen Online on the top 30 sites in the "News" category based on March 2008 traffic. This data takes into account U.S. home and work Internet usage, and it shows both unique visitors to each brand or channel and sessions per person.

I don't know if the strike is still on or not. I found a lot of publicity for it all across the internets but nothing to suggest that the strikers had settled their differences through negotiations or something like that. The only thing I could find on the status of the strike was a post by the "strike leader" out on the web dated March 25th:
Since I and others have left DailyKos, things must have gotten pretty boring for the haters there. Some seem to have followed us over to our new blog-home, MyDD.
Bum, haters? Is that what we are? Maybe we're just bitter. You think?
Anyway, I guess daily kos must be considered an elitist blog being up there at the top of the rankings. Of course, if negotiations are successful and the strike ends, then those 26 readers may come back and then the April numbers for the unique audience at daily kos could soar from 979,000 to 979,026.
Cool.
