I haven't diaried here in a couple of years, to be honest. Between election related depression and a good deal of hostility for my pro-Hillary position (thus the screen name), I just decided to lurk for awhile. My whole life has changed since listening to Barack Obama speak here in Portland. Anyone who has the ability to make a jaded old curmudgeon like myself donate money AND time, is well deserving of my vote.
Just to be clear, I now support Obama wholeheartedly, and Hillary's mean-spirited attacks of a fellow Democrat have stripped her of her Homegirl status. I just don't want to give up my low User #. Kos, if you're reading this, please help me change my name without having to register for a new account. Consider it my Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Festivus gift.
Anyway, flush with my new found sense of civic responsibility, last weekend, I went to the Clark County Democratic Convention. To be honest, I wasn't even sure there WAS such a thing.
It was packed! I arrived what I thought would be early (8:15 for a starting time of 9:00AM). There were cars everywhere, and nary an open spot. I ended up parking almost a quarter of a mile away and walking.
The atmosphere inside was electric. As you can see from the above photo, when it came time to elect Delegates, the Clinton people were outvoted by a large margin. It was interesting though...seemed like most of the Clinton people were middle aged to elderly women and their husbands. Purely anecdotal, but there you have it.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hey y'all to the community at large, and let you know that I've made a lot of changes in my opinion of who would be the best choice for President.
I am now firmly and inexorably convinced that the only choice is one Barack Obama.
Peace!
