This won't take long.
They can't outwork you
Thay can't outraise you
They can't outthink you
they can't inspire you
The only hope they have of winning is to discourage you.
**I have seen them do it before.
Ask the people who supported Dean in 2004. Ask those who fought for Gore in 2000. Discouragement can be a powerful thing. It can make you not want to get out of bed in the morning. It can make people take their own lives.
These naysayers haven't been to the streets and knocked on the doors or made the phone calls or donated their hard earned money. They are smugly convinced that they can use the media as the bully pulpit to drive down enthusiasm for this election by making you so disgusted with the process that you don't even bother to vote. Its the very apathy that has helped them maintain their grip on power and helped them elect - and REELECT - the worst president in American history. We need to recognize this for what it is: a full scale onslaught on your sensibilities, your desire to make a difference, your belief that we are the ones who should rise up and strive to make this a better world.
Don't let it happen. Keep fighting for what you believe in.
Peace, Chillin'
UPDATE: A comment asked me if I call this a diary. The answer is "yes, I do." But, if you can't wrap your brain around that, how about we call it our "If You Haiku." In fact, maybe you can even come up with your own. My whole point should be explained in the diary title. We are too close to be letting ourselves get rattled like this, people. They are afraid of change, we aren't. Keep fighting.
UPDATE II: In order to bridle the tongues of those who are too anally retentive to get my original premise I have extended the diary to comply with site rules. The added paragraph is indicated in bold. Not that it will appease the whiners. After all the negativity, boycotts, smears, distortion and so on, we need inspiration more than aspiration. I am willing to take my lumps if it uplifts someone else. Are you?
