After 7 years of divisiveness and employing an us-versus-them model of governing, George W. Bush is finally showing himself to be the "uniter, not a divider" he always dreamed of.
According to a recent NY Times article, the largest proportion of respondents in the history of the New York Times/CBS News poll survey claim America is "seriously" on the wrong track. And in our flailing economy a majority of all kinds can unite around one idea, that the economy is in serious trouble:
A majority of nearly every demographic and political group — Democrats and Republicans, men and women, residents of cities and rural areas, college graduates and those who finished only high school — say that the United States is headed in the wrong direction. Seventy-eight percent of respondents said the country was worse off than five years ago; just 4 percent said it was better off.
So congratulations America, Mr. Bush has brought us together! We've reached across the aisle, across racial and sociological divides, and across religious divisions to bond in common disappointment.
Aaahhh...doesn't it feel good to be united and not divided?
