The Missouri Senate just adjourned. The Voter ID bill that would have sent the question to citizens of Missouri on whether to amend the state constitution requiring voters to have state-issued photo to vote never made it to the floor.
It is a big victory in a state that controls both the executive. and legislative branches. The zeal in which the Republicans zipped this bill through committee and the house was alarming. With no evidence of voter impostor fraud, what was the big rush to get this bill past?. It was a blatant attempt to disenfranchise over 200,000 Missourians. This figure was stated by Robin Carnahan, Missouri's Secretary of State.
Congrats to all those that wrote their state Senators and told them that this was, as Joe Biden would say, BS
This round has been won in Missouri. However Gov. Matt Blunt can hold a special session later in the year to revisit issues he deems important. Great job to all the activists here in Missouri. At least we won't have 12 angry nuns in Missouri for the time being. :)
