John McCain will meet this weekend with three men rumored to be VP candidates:: Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and former Massachusetts Governor "Multiple Choice Mitt" Romney (a partner in flip-flopping). He downplayed the meetings as part of a social get-together, but if his list is down to these three guys, I feel confident about our chances heading into the fall.
None of these three guys impress me, although Crist seems to be the best pick, as he is from a lean-red state (Florida) that McCain would like to lock up. Do you think the wingnut base of the party would really be happy, though, with a guy who's never been considered a True Believer and is rumored to be gay?
Jindal, a former Congressman and now Governor of Louisiana, is an absolute WINGNUT who once wrote an article, while in Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship, where he reported seeing a friend possessed by demons. Limbaugh calls Jindal the "next Ronald Reagan," - nice one, Rush!
As for Romney, to quote Ned Flanders during his epic shit-fit when his house falls down on The Simpsons: "And you, I don't know who you are, but I'm sure you're a jerk!" Romney and McCain's disdain for each other was obvious during the debates; they have no chemistry, and Romney's new rebirth as the darling of the conservative movement is comical. Romney pissed off so many people that I can't see him doing more good to McCain than harm.
Thoughts?
Update: I had incorrectly posted earlier that McCain met these guys today - the meeting is this weekend; this has been corrected.
