I'm asking others here to please recommend this diary for Obama supporters that live in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. This is so Obama supporters can pre-register for attending the Rules and Bylaws Committee on May 31st, which will decide the outcome of Florida and Michigan delegations.
There's going to be a mass protest by Clinton supporters outside the Marriot-Wardman hotel, which is in Adams Morgan. I'll also be organizing a counter-event by Obama supporters, and I already have a few signed up to go with me for the counter-event. I can't stress enough how important this is going to be, and why this should be on the recommended list.
So, please recommend this diary!!!
I'm adding the release from the Democrats.org site below:
A Note on Public Participation
This meeting is open to the public, however due to space constraints, guests are being asked to pre-register their attendance. Registration will open online at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 27. Members of the public wishing to register should fill out the form at the following link: http://www.democrats.org/... . Those lacking Internet access who would like to pre-register can do so by calling 202-479-5137.

Credentials must be picked up at registration tables located outside the meeting room between 8:00-9:30 AM on May 31st in order to guarantee a seat. If reserved credentials are not picked up by 9:30 AM, they will be released and given out to other members of the public.
Same Day Registration
If a member of the general public is unable to pre-register, limited same-day registration will be available. Same-day guest credentials will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis and are limited to one per person. Individuals with a same day guest credential will be allowed into the meeting as space permits.

Here's how the Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting will go down:
What: DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee Meeting

* Morning Session: Oral Arguments
* Afternoon Session: Consideration and Debate
Where: Marriott Wardman Park Hotel - Salon I
2660 Woodley Road NW, Washington, DC
DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee to Meet Saturday, May 31st
WASHINGTON - The Democratic National Committee's Rules & Bylaws Committee will meet on Saturday May 31, 2008 in Washington, DC. The Rules and Bylaws Committee will consider the two challenges that have been filed pursuant to Rule 20.B of the 2008 Delegate Selection Rules and Regulation 3 of the Regulations of the Rules and Bylaws Committee concerning the seating of delegations from Florida and Michigan.
Pursuant to Section 3.4(N) of the Committee's Regulations, each challenger will be entitled to present an Oral Argument before the RBC prior to Committee consideration for a period of 15 minutes each. A representative from each state party and from each presidential campaign will also have an opportunity to address the committee regarding each of the challenges. Oral arguments from the parties will be heard during the committee's morning session. Following a lunch break, committee members will consider and debate the challenges.
Additionally, if you do not have internet access (which I don't know how you're reading this blog, but just in case), register by calling 202-479-5137.
This may very well take all day in hearing the arguments from both camps, and I'll be there doing a live-blog from the Rules and Bylaws committee to keep a close eye on what the Clinton camp is going to be doing.
Also, it's extremely important that we have Obama supporters like myself at the meeting. Hillary Clinton's supporters are going to be bussing in protestors for the Rules and Bylaws Committee meeting, so it's critical that we show up for the counter-event.
Since the Rules and Bylaws Committee is going to start at 9:30 a.m. on the 31st of this month, I would suggest that we show up at 8:30 a.m., and for further information, send an e-mail to my e-mail address below.
Please WRITE in the comments below whether you'll attend the 31st meeting, or the counter-event outside. E-mail me at pleasehelpfreebarneythedog at gmail dot com so I can keep track of who's going to be there, and send everyone a reminder e-mail to show up.
If you live in the DC area, you can take the Metro on the Red Line, and get off at the Adams Morgan-Woodley Park Zoo stop. Or take the 92 bus from the U-Street corridor, or the 42 bus up to Florida Avenue from Dupont Circle, which you can walk straight up Connecticut Avenue across the bridge to the hotel.
And for those living outside of the DC area in Maryland and Virginia, the address of the hotel is:
Marriott Wardman Park Hotel
2660 Woodley Road, NW
Washington, District Of Columbia 20008 USA
Phone: 1-202-328-2000
Fax: 1-202-234-0015
Sales: 1-202-328-2950
Sales Fax: 1-202-387-5436
And for those who've managed to snag guest credentials after pre-registering, you can bring your laptops since the hotel has wireless access. The RBC meeting also will be televised on C-Span.
EDIT: THE RBC MEETING REGISTRATION IS NOW FULL. That was what, ten minutes, for it to completely fill up?
UPDATE: CALL THIS NUMBER 202-863-8000 IF THE RBC EVENT DISAPPEARED FROM YOUR PARTYBUILDER ACCOUNT OR IF YOU DIDNT GET THE CONFIRMATION EMAIL!!!
UPDATE: Here's the message from Josh at the DNC:
Way at the bottom here, but wanted to check-in. I'm Josh, Internet Director at the DNC.
I just wrote this up on our blog, but I'll cross-post here just to get the information out. Also apologies for not being able to read every comment here...I'm trying to be as quick as possible.
First, yes, it did go online. For about a minute. There was a lot if demand and were sorry if you didn't get a spot...they were gone pretty quickly. We'll make sure to have a feed available here on Democrats.org on Saturday so you can see it.
Second, if you did start to register and didn't get a confirmation email, there are two possible scenarios that may affect you.
1. You started the process but didn't complete it before the space was filled. If that's the case, unfortunately someone got the last spot just before you did. The difference between getting a spot and not was a matter of seconds.
2. You finished, you're on the list, and just didn't get an email. There was a lot of pressure on our system, and while we believe that everyone got an email that should have, let us know using this form and we'll take a look and let you know one way or another.
Also, for those of you who registered but don't see the event RSVP in your PartyBuilder account -- you're still on the list. We simply removed the event from the system to completely lock down registration.
If you have any other issues or questions, let us know through the form and we'll get them answered. We're sorry we don't have enough room for everyone who wanted to be there, but we'll make sure you can see the meeting if you want to. We also want to make sure that the people who signed up first get in.

****FINAL UPDATE**** Kossack democrattotheend has what she says is an e-mail from someone she knows in the Obama campaign:
I just got a call directly from the campaign itself and they've said that anyone interested in attending the RBC Meeting may feel free to go the morning of to see if there are any last-minute seats available (since all the seats available via online are taken). However, if there are no seats available, we are ALL invited to participate in the massive VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE they are organizing for that same day (details to follow in separate email). The campaign also STRONGLY DISCOURAGES any outside rallying by Obama supporters at the RBC Meeting, as it can be seen as a disruption to the process occurring inside the meeting. They in turn STRONGLY ENCOURAGE we take part in the voter registration drive in our area. I will follow up in a separate email with details on how you can be involved in this drive.
I think the voter registration drive is a great idea. I suggest that we all show up at the hotel, and distribute whatever voter registration packets we can give to passerbys to register them, tell the media that we're there to register voters to show support for the Democratic National Committee so we can expand the party for the 2008 general election and then we can do a canvass across town to register people.
- No shouting at Clinton supporters. Stay away from them.
- Do not engage them to argue. Don't get angry. Remain calm.
- Smile, register voters.
- Bring signs talking about Democratic unity, and how important it is to beat John McCain. Write quotes from the DNC's book on McCain on his many flip-flops.
- John McCain is the real enemy here.
Edit: Just got the confirmation e-mail! Thanks, Josh!
