Reason #5,004 why it's never good to acknowledge that Fox News actually exists except as a funny blip on your channel lineup:
They are racist, intolerant, BIGOTS.
But ooooh can they be subtle about it, sometimes. Take a gander at a screenshot from last night when I was checking to see if any networks had called Indiana for Hillary yet:
No problems, right? Fox was actually containing themselves and staying in line with the major networks and saying that Indiana was too close to call. But then, I started to pay attention to the oh-so-helpful statistical breakdown at the bottom of the screen and I saw this:
Oh no they didn't. But yes they did! BHO!
At first, my little brain couldn't figure out what was going on here. What the hell was a "BHO"? You could hear the wheels turning in my head. Hmmmm...
Then it struck me: "If HRC stands for Hilary Rodham Clinton, then there must be some similar reason for BHO.... Wait... WTF?!?! Those racist PRICKS!!!"
BHO = Barack Hussein Obama. Sigh.
You see, they actually used the initials often used to refer to Hillary to subtly pull off another use of his damn middle name as a pejorative. Kind of wink wink nudge nudge, you know?
I can imagine this:
Fox: What? We're just shortening his name into a format that we can fit into our oh-so-useful stat box down there! It is his middle name, you know. Not that there's anything wrong with that... We do it with Hillary, too, so there look, Fair and Balanced! See?
Which I'm sure would explain this just moments later:
Which of course was followed several minutes later by a third, different usage of the cute reference. I didn't get a pic of it, because I was too busy running around the house pulling my hair out.
It's like when children get into an argument and things go a little deeper than the kids intended them to. Except when it's the young'uns, you'll hear a spirited "poopy-head!" or "meany-butt!" or something along those lines. Not when Fox does it, though. When they don't have anything else to add to the discussion (and they don't, and they know it), they'll devolve into some sort of Slur-Beast that attacks intelligence by insulting it.
Yes, we know it's his middle name! Yes, we know that it is an acceptable way to refer to many political figures, like HRC, FDR, LBJ, and JFK! And yes, we know that the mere mention of the name Hussein doesn't necessarily mean that someone is a Muslim!
But you racist, intolerant shitheads, this is the 2008 Presidential Election. There is simply no other context in which the use of Barack Obama's middle name is not racial, religious code for him being a closet Muslim, Manchurian Candidate, turban-wearing threat to our very society, and you know it.
I would say e-mail them, but what's the point? You know that they will continue doing it, mainly because it's exactly the kind of name-calling, side-smirking trivial bullshit that will keep their loyal viewership tuned in night after making-us-all-dumber night.
But it won't win them an election, now will it?
No, sir, it won't.

UPDATE: No mistaking that the commenters think I am making a mountain out of a molehill here. I am genuinely PO'd about this one. Maybe it is a "I don't like where it's coming from" sort of thing. Seriously, this has been bugging me all day. BUT, I think you guys are being somewhat naive if you think Fox was being innocent here.
UPDATE x2: OK, OK, I know when I've been whooped. For the record, I see the point made about apologizing for it giving it credence. Screw you, you dirty hippies. :P Love ya. (Licking my wounds)
