I have a theory on why Ickes and Flourney were both so adamant at the RBC meeting on Saturday. I've watched Ickes threat at the end of the RBC meeting, and I watched Flourney (who was sitting next to him) crying while he was fulminating. I couldn't figure out why they were SO upset over 4 lousy delegates. Then it hit me. It's not about 4 delegates. It's about giving Barack ANYTHING out of Michigan.
I live MI and attended my District Convention back in April where delegates were elected. That's right, some delegates have already been elected. I sat in the uncommitted caucus. It is a widely known fact that most districts got Obama supporters elected as uncommitted. What is not so widely known is that some districts were not as lucky. There have even been articles written on the subject.
Michigan is becoming Clinton's Secret Weapon
Here's my take on why Clinton and her Campaign were so upset Saturday. HRC, her campaign and her surrogates have been saying for weeks that Barack should get NO delegates out of Michigan, that all of the delegates, other than hers, should be uncommitted only. Why? Because that was her plan: to take her 73 delegates out of MI and FLIP enough uncommitted to give her the lead in pledged delegates. Then she could argue that with the Supers. And they might have listened, it certainly would have strengthened her case a lot more than this ludicrous popular vote nonsense. But, by actually awarding delegates to Obama and not uncommitted and giving "candidate right of approval" the RBC essentially took away her last and greatest chance at the nomination. Hence the fulminating by Ickes and crying by Flourney. They just watched their last almost legitimate argument flushed down the toilet.
That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it.
