I imagine many of you, like me, are a bit tired of the ridiculousness of day to day politics, and might like a short music break. Well, one of my favorite groups combines great music with an enlightened and progressive anti-war message that I thought many of you would enjoy (you may know him already)
I present for your enjoyment "Michael Franti and Spearhead," below:
Throughout my career I have always viewed music as a way to stir the soul and a vehicle for social change.
-Michael Franti
As you listen to his songs, you will see that he practices what he preaches.
First, my favorite song, "Light Up Ya Lighter":
A couple quotes:
Come on, come one, sign up, come on
This one's nothing like Vietnam
Except for the bullets
Except for the bombs
Except for the youth that's gone
In the Afghan hills, the rebels still fighting
Opium fields keep on providing
The best heroine that money can buy-in
Nobody knows where Osama bin hiding
The press conferences keep on lying
Like we don't know
Another Great Song, "Time to go Home":
Another great song, "East to the West," perhaps a bit less political:
You can visit his website here: http://www.spearheadvibrations.com/...
He'll be at the "Power to the Peaceful Benefit" in San Francisco on June 22nd.
Hope you enjoy
