I hear increasing calls for Barack Obama to show "Grace and Dignity" in dealing with Hillary Clinton, as she bows out of the Democratic Primary race. Calls from the Talking Heads. Calls from the OpEd pages. Calls from frustrated Clinton campaign operatives, and her devoted supporters. Every one is demanding that Sen. Obama find "Grace and Dignity" in closing out the Primary.
The memo of the new narrative has been widely circulated and everyone is chanting it, in unison.
WTF?
Can anyone point to any example during this entire 15 months when Barack Obama has shown anything BUT grace and dignity?
How did Obama react to his Iowa win?
How did he react to the "shock and awe" in the media when they finally noticed that he is a Black man?
How did he react to Super Tuesday?
How did he react when the Rev. Wright episode was latched onto by the cable media and turned into a challenge against his patriotism?
How did he react at every win, every stadium event, and every whistle stop?
Aside from one example of his irritation with attacks on Michelle, has Barack Obama EVER shown anything but "grace and dignity" as he faced the chaos of the modern American political theater?
He has had every movement, every statement, every facial expression, captured on cell phone, video camera, and posted to YouTube, or run in endless loop by the media. He has had every association, every social contact, even the purchase of his family home, dissected, discussed, and dissed. Is there any record of him reacting with less than "grace and dignity" to this unrelenting intrusion into every moment of his life?
Does anyone believe that he will treat the Clinton Campaign, or the candidate herself, with less "grace and dignity" then he has every other event in this campaign?
This is yet another example of the media's meddling! Another example of "Let's him and her fight!" Another attempt to make news by saying things that fit their narrative, but have little basis in reality.
They really want to keep the suspicion of the "angry Black man" simmering just below the surface. Instead of waiting to to see how the final moments of the campaign play out and reporting on it, they want to prime everyone for a big blow up, nurse the resentments of Clinton supporters with the possibility of her treatment being less than gracious, and Gore Barack Obama with their own version of gottch'a.
How about a tinsy bit of "grace and dignity" on the part of those who report on this campaign?
