It's really the most I can afford, but today, literally a minute after I heard Hillary throw her complete support behind Obama, I went to http://www.barakobama.com and put 100 bucks on my credit card to contribute to Barak Obama.
My candidate was Bill Richardson, but he just ran a bad campaign. I live in Florida, and I knew they'd screw over my vote again, but I went anyway and cast my vote for Obama. After super Tuesday, it was obvious Obama was going to win. I was lukewarm to Obama, which is a surprise, because he's my age (4 months older) from Chicago (me too!), so he knows machine politics.
I joined the Hillary website to urge her to step aside when the math became obvious and I got pissed as she pushed the primaries all the way to the end. I yelled at the TV when she didn't concede last Tuesday.
All the while, I didn't give a penny to anyone...until just about an hour ago.
It's up to us now to give Obama money. I want to see 60 senators and a 60% majority in the House with President Obama.
I want to see health care for everyone or at least for kids and over 65s. I want to see a realistic and tough middle East policy. I want to see green technologies and cars that get 50 or more MPG. I want more alternative energy. I want a full on fight to stop global warming. I want corporations to pay their fair share for their huge profits. I want to see the end of privately financed campaigns. I want to see accountability in voting. I want to see a woman president. I want to see a Hispanic president. I want to see the highest educated, healthiest, 30 hour a week working society that is the steward of democracy around the world.
In short, I want CHANGE. Hillary wants CHANGE. You want CHANGE. John McCain wants to keep things as they are.
GIVE NOW. Obama's campaign needs it. That's the single most important thing you can do, if you do nothing else. GIVE IT, NOW!!!
