After 15 hours straight of thinking about this without sleep, rest or pause of any sort I have decided that I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States of America. I believed him when he said he was a "Constitutional Scholar" and "Lawyer" and would "Filibuster" any and "all" legislation that granted retroactive immunity to the telecommunication giants. I believed him to the tune of nearly $200 worth of contributions to his campaign during the primary.
Not only didn't the Senator filibuster. He voted for a law that eviscerated the 4th Amendment and gives George W. Bush the UNCHECKED ability -- in the future -- to spy on U.S. calls and emails without any oversight (and, consequently, grants the next President the same power. Telling if that is President Obama and scary if that is President McCain).
Even Hillary voted against this legislation. Yes. THAT Hillary. The one I thought would be wrong for this country and the one I considered to be too far to the Right to be a decent leader. I wanted change, not more of the same. Looks like I was simply campaigning against Senator More of the Same by campaigning for Senator Even More of the Same.
Eventually Democrats will realize they cannot win by being Republican Lite. By that time it will be too late for it to do any good, but there will be some small consolation in being able to say, "I told you so."
At least if we can get that out through the gas masks we have to wear due to decades of corporate pleasing politicians destroying the environment and our health.
