I never cease to be amazed at the attitudes of these individuals, and maintaining that ability to be amazed is an effort in New York State, believe me.

Charlie's version of fairness
In my own life, I endeavor to do the best I can to hold myself accountable before criticizing the actions of others. In that vein, I've decided that as a Democrat of Conscience, I have a duty not to cherry pick the foibles of Republicans, for I have no voice there.
Rather, I want to do the best I can to clean "my house". If we are saying there are rewards to putting more Democrats into positions of power, we need to ensure those Democrats do something other than execute the same corrupt practices as their Republican counterparts.
This story about Rangel has bothered me all day, mainly due to the fact that his indignation about being called on his actions drives me up a wall.
Every time I see one of these stories, I am truly left to wonder about our commitment, as activists, to being true enough about our ideals to hold everyone we support fully accountable for their conduct. Only when we do that will our votes, our investments, and our beliefs really make a difference.
