I realize this is kinda dredging up "news" that is by now a few weeks old and by todays standards all but forgotten, but it's something that has been bugging me since McSame became the "presumptive" nominee. Why is it that only Democrat's military service is in play by the MSM, whereas any repug gets a pass and is above the fray??
To begin, I can't imagine, nor would I want to try, what John McCain went through during his days as a POW. This is certainly deserving of, if nothing else, our respect and self-reflection on what it meant from all sides of the coin. Not many can put themselves in his shoes, and on this front, and this alone, I hold a modicum of respect for the guy.
But this being said, the double standard the repugs put forward and our darling "liberal" media runs with, is disgusting. How many news cycles did Wes Clark's comments about McCain's being shot down not qualifying him for president get? All honest debate about what he said is lost (and honestly, what he said is spot-on, no matter how bluntly/crudely he put it), you simply don't put down someone who has sacrificed so much for their country. But wait, unless you are a Democrat who has sacrificed as much or more.
So where was the media's outrage when Max Cleland was dragged through the mud? They actually had assholes on the air saying his loss of limbs was his own fault and because of his own carelessness?!?!?!? Where were the "Patriots" and their outrage during this debacle? Nowhere to be found, because the guy is obviously a bleeding-heart liberal socialist.
And where was the outrage when people showed up for the '04 RNC sporting purple Band-Aids, cuz obviously Kerry didn't really "earn" his Purple Hearts, he was just careless and was portrayed as a "traitor" because he dared speak out against a war that was obviously lost for all intents and purposes. History indeed repeats itself, no one could really define what victory WAS in Vietnam, much as they can't today in our current war of choice.
And it goes on and on, we have our nominee falling all over himself honoring McCain's service, and honor it he should, but every time I see it and hear it and listen to the MSM get all worked up over ANY challenge to McSame's "war record", I reflect back on the last 7 years and it makes me sick to see this as purely partisan outrage, with our supposedly "4th Branch" media parroting whatever the 'Thugs want them to. Will none of our people who have a voice in the MSM ever bring this up? Or is it off-limits for some reason, only for our side?
