Valtin has published a diary in these convention-dominated times about the sad case of Mohammad Jawad, the child-soldier detained for 5 years at Gitmo and tortured, whose chance for justice has just begun, and for whom his court-appointed attoneys have drafted a letter/petition to be signed by the public pleading for the judge to throw out his case or show some sense of fairness/justice.
Very few even saw the diary. I sent a letter to Meteorblades, my secret hero, hoping he will help publicize this so we can get more signatures. If you need to know more about Mohammad Jawad, you can check out Andy Worthington's site, Valtin's blog, my blog, or even wikipedia.
Normally, I'm very long-winded, but the importance of the fantastic convention may leave you little time for going through all that now.
So, mercifully, I'll leave you with another link from Valtin's blog on the petition, and hope that enough of you care about what happens at Guantanamo in the case of a child soldier being railroaded by the Bush administration to make it a "sexy" case with a supposed terrorist with "blood on his hands". It's so horrific - just sign...
and thanks in advance!
