As Hurricane Ike winds down, we're bound to hear stories about people who have lost everything they own. Because the insurance companies will do everything they can to get out of paying claims, there are going to be many people who won't be reimbursed enough to cover their rebuilding costs. Others might not have had insurance at all.
That's why I think that Cindy McCain should join with the rest of us Americans who always step up to the plate and give to organizations like the Red Cross.
Here's what I propose:
Cindy McCain could feed tens of thousands of victims and volunteers if she did one simple thing: sell that RNC outfit and give the proceeds to the Red Cross!
Here's a breakdown of how much Cindy's outfit cost:
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000-$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would buy it for even more than that, since it was worn on national television and since the proceeds would be going for hurricane relief!
John & Cindy McCain together could also impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. How?
Sell ONE of their SEVEN (or is it 12?) houses and donate the proceeds to the Red Cross for hurricane relief.
C'mon, Mr. & Mrs. Maverick, on Thursday you asked the American people to "serve" their countries...you could both easily donate hundreds of thousands of dollars just by pulling out that never-to-be-worn-again outfit out of the closet and getting rid of one of those barely-lived-in-condos!
Meanwhile, for those of you who haven't done so, here's the link so that YOU too can donate to The Red Cross.
I'll be donating the cost of the shirt I'm currently wearing: $15.
