Does this look familiar?http://www.politico.com/...
With the current financial meltdown in progress, and it's effects on the economy still relatively unknown, will Obama hit McCain hard on the Economy? Or will he stick to his strategy of the last month? In the last Gallup economy poll, they were pretty much tied at ~45% each.
Now, I bring these quotes:
http://thinkprogress.org/...
"The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should," - John McCain
"I don’t believe we’re headed into a recession," he said, "I believe the fundamentals of this economy are strong and I believe they will remain strong." - John McCain
http://www.washtimes.com/...
"We have sort of become a nation of whiners," - John McCain's top economic adviser, Phil Gramm, Wednesday, July 9, 2008
"You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession," - John McCain's top economic adviser, Phil Gramm, Wednesday, July 9, 2008
Obama is virtually tied with McCain on the economy issue according to Gallup. Why have we not seen these quotes driven into the ground by the Obama campaign? In my opinion, especially with the current financial crisis on hand, the Obama campaign should come out with a full blitz attacking McCain on the economy.
Yes, I know there's already ads out there with some of these quotes. Yes, I know Joe Biden is giving a great attack speech tomorrow. But the ads haven't been exposed much, and Joe Biden's speeches get minimal press coverage. Obama's campaign spokesperson coming out with burns don't really matter much (the ones I see at the top of the rec list every day), because 95% of America doesn't end up seeing the response.
I'd like to see:
- these quotes in ads, with much, much, much more exposure than they have now
- Obama's surrogates on TV driving these quotes into the ground
- Obama himself come out with "big" press conferences condemning McCain's campaign tactics and attack his lack of knowledge on the economy.
Here's an ad I'd like to see all over the place:
"I don’t believe we’re headed into a recession," he said, "I believe the fundamentals of this economy are strong and I believe they will remain strong." - John McCain
"The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should, but I’ve got Greenspan’s book," - John McCain
And here's what Alan Greenspan, actually has to say about the current economy:
"This Is The Worst Economy I've Ever Seen" - Alan Greenspan (link)
