Red Staters are getting their knickers in a serious twist over the Palin & McGaffe ticket. I love reading some of Erick the Viking's discombobulated, simpering cohorts, inexorably boxing themselves silly into that tiny corner of their unpopular canvas with their, ahem, oliguric thinking and prelapsarian beliefs.
First off the slimy boards we have this front-paged cris de coeur:
Should John McCain distance himself from President Bush? The Obama camps strategy is clear over the 60 something days. To continue to tout John McCain as the second coming of George Bush and to tout himself as the one who can truly bring change. The McCain camp needs to respond to these two charges and have yet to do it effectively.
This one warms the cockles of thy heart, from a creature named swamp yankee:
We were never going to get the rank and file Hillary supporters, but the independent minded Hillary leaners are taking notice.
Don't you love this, from jdripper: Wake Up GOP Or Else....get used to being a footnote in history
I saw Barack Obama's speech tonight. Charles Krauthammer has always mirrored my thinking in regards to politics. It was a brilliant speech. It was the right speech and we are in for a fight. I do not believe one thing we have to do is stop running from President Bush.
JKGeneva offers us a well written solution: learn Chinese!
Is anyone else other than myself sick and tired of "business as usual" in Washington???.... I'd rather vote for my next door neighbor for Presdent, than any career politicians. Our country is in such a financial mess, that it's arguably too late to do anything about it anyway.. so go ahead, watch your sitcoms, watch your reality TV shows, eat another happy meal, and keep your head in the sand... our 9.5 trillion dollar debt is not going to go away... so let's keep on talking about Palin's daughter being pregnant.. how ridiculous.. the real issue should be is why aren't high schools in America teaching Chinese??.. they better soon, because before you know it, they will own it when they call in their loans... and if they don't, the official language will probably be Mexican (not Spanish).
Whoa! This one is lost in space!
I know there is a fight ahead. The thuggery of Obama and his followers are going to require a landslide win for McCain. What do we do? How can we help? I will go to the local GOP office tomorrow, I can phone bank possibly. I can make youtube video's to reach people online. But don't know what the topic should be.
Self evidence, I know thy name! From Shawna, today:
How come no one is second guessing Palin's ability to raise her family as V.P of this country. I'm sorry but as a conservative and mother I want to know why I haven't seen one frame of Palin holding her 4month old baby! Her 17-year-old is forever the caregiver. I just couldn't imagine leaving my special needs baby to compete as the leader of the free world. She can not possibly give that child nor all her children the time and attention they need. Pro-family is just not resignating with me. Her baby doesn't even have socks on-he's barefoot in every picture or t.v frame. I'm sorry but as a mother, professional, and family values conservative I'm missing the poles this year. Her younger children are going to suffer wildly without their mother. Family first period.
Here we have some indication on how they stroke themselves into mind-soothing, delusional contretemps:
I must admit, I was reeling yesterday with the news of Bristol Palin's pregnancy. Not that it would change my vote or anything, because it won't. But I did still have questions. My big questions were- Did John McCain really know this in advance? All indications are that he did know about this and Todd's DUI that took place before the Palins were married in 1986. The Washington Post has a good story on how McCain chose Palin. I had read it before and re-read it to soothe my mind.
As for that "thorough" vetting we have this from the master vetter himself:
Shortly after Palin was named to the ticket, McCain's campaign dispatched a team of a dozen communications operatives and lawyers to Alaska. That fueled speculation that a comprehensive examination of Palin's record and past was incomplete and being done only after she was placed on the ticket.
And
Culvahouse disclosed details of his examination in a half-hour interview with the AP. First, a team of some 25 people working under Culvahouse culled information from public sources for Palin and other prospective candidates without their knowledge. For all, news reports, speeches, financial and tax return disclosures, litigation, investigations, ethical charges, marriages and divorces were reviewed. For Palin specifically, the team studied online archives of the state's largest newspapers, including the Anchorage Daily News, but didn't request paper archives for Palin's hometown newspaper. "I made the decision that we could not get it done and maintain secrecy," Culvahouse said.
From the aptly named bs:
ENOUGH!!!RedState has become an ungodly mess.
Finally, if you feel like a flutter, go to this site and gamble on Sarah Palin to be withdrawn as Republican VP nominee/candidate before 2008 presidential election Happy days!
