First Read is finally telling people the other half of the "tax increase" story. I was wondering how long it would take before the media started telling the American people that John McCain wants to tax your health benefits if you get them from your employer. Wasn't it John McCain who said that "everyone knows you don't raise taxes in a slowing economy"?
We all knew about John's plan to institute this regressive bs, but the media kept talking about JSM cutting taxes for everyone, albeit much more so for the wealthy. Think about it people, if you get 7k worth of healthcare paid for by you're employer, then your tax liability will increase by $2100 under McCain. Guess what, McCain is only going to cut my taxes by $300, so comparitively, my taxes go down $1100 under Obama's plan, or they go up by $1800 under McCain.
Damn it John, you're right, only a moran would raise taxes in these tough economic times, and you are that moran.
One final note about the reason this tax is so regressive. Employer provided healthcare can vary somewhat in cost, but if we look at just one company, their plan is usually fairly standard until you get up to the highest level executives. This means that Joe Schmoe working in the mail room has to pay an extra two thousand in taxes just like the executive assistant making twice as much as him, and just like the mid level manager making four times as much as him, and heck even the same additional tax in hard dollars that the division manager has to pay although he makes 8 times as much as poor Joe. It's even less fair and more regressive than a flat tax, because the less you make the higher the percentage of your salary will go to pay for the taxes on your benifits.
It's obscene.
Finally Chucky T. Let's run with this.
