I have been trying to figure out what is up with this guy. He opened the debate by saying he wasn't feeling all that good about stuff lately. It seems as if he is just mad, pissed, depressed, and trying to figure out what all went wrong, and denying anything is wrong anyway.
I am not psychoanalyst, but here is my take on McCain.
McCain has had his sights on the presidency for years. He failed in 2000 because Bush blind sided him and sunk his battle ship. That has to sting. McCain continued in the Senate. In 2006 he saw the republicans lose control of both house and senate. He probably knows that his political stances are wearing thin on the "main street."
Then comes 2008, it is supposed to be his year. He easily wins the primary, and becomes the nominee. He has to fend off his own party's idiotic stances, and tries to distance himself from his party's president. he can't go that far because the on the main issue he sands firmly with Bush - on the wrong side of the people. His stance on Iraq is unpopular with the public.
Now he is finding that he is in a battle for his political career - and losing. It seems everyone is second guessing his actions, policies, statements, even his own party seems to be turning against him. Many in his own party were against him from the beginning. If I were in that situation, I would be defensive and angry too.
It is hard to keep happy, and cheerful when you are seeing your life long dream go down the tubes, and down big time. McCain was never really good at losing. Now that he has essentially sold out to win, and is losing, his ego and emotions are getting in the way of being able to think and act in a concise and decent way. He is making bad choice after bad choice, and having to defend them to people who he thinks should be helping him.
I am sure Obama's continued positive demeanor is just making McCain even more pissed. Kind of like when you lose a game, and the opposing side comes over to congratulate you on a good game. You lost, your pissed at your self and now your lifelong enemy want's to wish you well.
Ouch.
