Well, folks, looks like the GOP is floundering for some talking points. So who do they turn to? Why Kristol the Butcher of course. He's sharpened his pen to dish up some red meat for all the lie-hungry, drama-hungry Americans out here...
Kristol asks, "Can McCain WIN?"
He has a chance. But only if he overrules those of his aides who are trapped by conventional wisdom, huddled in a defensive crouch and overcome by ideological timidity. He has a chance. But only if he overrules those of his aides who are trapped by conventional wisdom, huddled in a defensive crouch and overcome by ideological timidity.
Bill, Bill, Bill--so now you say McCain's "only chance" to win is if he...becomes a leader?
What's the matter? Did the poorly-executed "suspending the campaign" stunt not fly? Has that flashy shine worn off your vice rhinesone nominee? Is the smell of truth gagging you? Are you shocked that the American people are seeing through your fog of spin? Brilliant argument for McCain: "become a leader--quick!"
McCain should break the mold...With respect to his campaign, McCain needs to liberate his running mate...She should spend her time making the case for McCain and, more important, the case against Obama. As one shrewd McCain supporter told me, “Every minute she spends not telling the American people something that makes them less well disposed to Obama is a minute wasted.”
Newsflash, Kristol: he is not a leader. He's just not. He cannot command, he does not inspire, and he has no vision. And right now, America needs more than a winning candidate--we need a leader. Are you so burned to the core you'd sell our country short for a notch in the win column?
The core case against Obama is pretty simple: he’s too liberal...He also has radical associates in his past. The most famous of these is the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and I wonder if Obama may have inadvertently set the stage for the McCain team to reintroduce him to the American public...The McCain campaign might consider responding by...
Thing is, Bill, we can't live on lies alone. We can't live on drama alone. Hell, we can't even live on minimum wage alone, so why in the hell would we buy the wasted ideology you're trying to repackage with a mavericky new bow? In the unlikely event you're concerned, though we are staying fed--fed up with being poor, fed up with overtime, fed up with the smears, fed up with incompetence, fed up with the lies, fed up with you and your manufactured realities....
He can explain...McCain can tell voters... McCain has to move on...only if he overrules...surge to victory...might consider responding...
So you think McCain should take charge. This is the best argument you've got? The only way your candidate "can win" is if he somehow, someway, somewhere, in the next 40 days suddenly decides to be a LEADER?! And according to you, being a "leader" entails flaying the other candidate's past to bleed out any drop of controversy?? Damn the torpedoes, damn the substance, and damn the truth?
Oh, God, save us from the "leadership" Kristol conjures--it is born in vile fires of desperation and contempt!
Folks, these are the fallen ruins of Conservative "principles": to win at all costs, at even the price of our country. There are such things as goodness, and decency, and right. When i read words like Kristol's I pity those who don't remember them.
