Anytime I have a major decision to make with my boyfriend, I've told him that if I start having doubts or feeling pressured into anything, I will say Cochise. It's sort of my code word that says, "Stop! I (or we) need to think some more about this! Don't let us get pressured into anything we don't really want!"
Well, I'm yelling Cochise inside with all my might right now, regarding this bailout. This is disgusting. Why are the same people who got us into this mess, the ones who are raiding our treasury?
I could get all wonky on you, and talk about health care and foreclosures and credit default swaps, but frankly, I'm tired. I think McCain and the Republicans choreographed this like Balanchine.
Bush, Bernanke, and Paulson go up to the Hill and ask for the money. The Dems balk. Then McCain "suspends" his campaign "until the crisis is over." Now everyone's feeling really rushed. If they don't pass something, McCain's likely to suspend his whole campaign and just declare himself President.
Never, never in my life have I seen such freakin' grandstanding and injection of Presidential politics into the affairs of governance. Some say McCain was just acting like a Senator should. I say, Poppycock! A Senator does not inject Presidential politics into a legislative matter. How imperial of him!
Even if Obama wins (please), will he be hampered in what he can do, by this massive giveaway to the fat cats?
I'm mad as hell, I'm yelling Cochise, and I'm not going to take it anymore!!
P.S. You may be wondering, where did I get this word Cochise, and what does it mean? To the first question, it was from an episode of "Cheers," where this dog is tied up at the bar, and one of the guys goes up to it and reads what it says on a sign attached to the dog: "Do not say 'Cochise' to this dog!" However, now the dog has heard its attack word, which is Cochise, so the dog goes crazy. That's all I remember of the episode (and it's not locatable on YouTube from my search). What does the word Cochise mean? I have no idea, and I cannot figure out if it's really a word in some other language or just a made-up word. Any help in that area greatly appreciated.
P.P.S. If you feel like yelling Cochise, too, here's a link to your Senators and Congressperson's phone and mail info:

(And yes, I've already called mine and yelled Cochise at them!!!)
