I'm sad to say that today I made my very last donation to the Obama/Biden campaign.
It's not because I'm maxed out.
And it's sure not because I've changed my mind.
I've been donating to the Obama campaign at the rate of $100/month ever since I was sure that he'd won the nomination (and maybe a couple of months before that).
That's about all I can afford, but I figure that with everyone else doing their part and me doing mine the campaign will have enough to roll into November as a juggernaut, crushing the puny opposition.
However, today I got the following e-mail from David Plouffe:
kismet --
Election Day isn't ahead of us -- it's already here.
Early voting has begun in eight states -- including the key battleground of Ohio, where voting begins today -- and it will be starting in a dozen more over the next two weeks.
Tonight is also the most important financial reporting deadline of the campaign. The resources we have on hand heading into October will decide the size of our voter registration and Get Out The Vote operations.
Your generosity has gotten us this far, but the need for your support today is more urgent right now than it will ever be.
And so I decided that right now I would haul off and make my last two planned contributions (and a little bit more) all in one go. I "maxed out" my personal contribution budget to the tune of $250. It'll do Obama way more good now than on October 31.
Who's with me?
