I tuned in last night to give Sarah Palin a chance to introduce us to the new face of the GOP. What I saw was KKKarl Rove in a dress. I will not watch McSame tonight or any more of this RNC (Ridiculous Neanderthal Crapfest). I’ve watched each party’s convention (at least what was televised on "regular" TV) since like 1980. I’m through with them and their petty, vitriolic, belittling of my party and our nominees for president. To borrow a word that pretty much says it all, "ENOUGH"!!
Sure, I was expecting some political jabs, I never thought she’d get up and speak glowingly about the opposition at their convention, but contrasting the RNC to the DNC (this year and year’s past) – where every speaker made a it a point to demonstrate that it isn’t personal and they don’t question McSame’s patriotism – I thought that someone new "the future of the Republican party" would have wanted to put forth a more positive message about what she was for rather than spit out vile GOP talking points about what she is against.
The fact that someone doesn’t have "the right" kind of experience, etc., really doesn’t bother me. I know that the right person with the right personality can and should be presidential. Look, Barack doesn’t have extensive experience (although it’s still more than what Palin has), but I know he’ll make a wonderful president by what he believes and how he interacts with people (both here and abroad). Palin had the chance to explain what she stands for, what she plans to do, what she will advocate for as Vice President. All I saw was a replay of the '04, '00, '96, '92 ... RNC.
At one point she mentioned that as a mother of a special needs child all parents of special needs children can look to her as an advocate for them in Washington. Okay, what specifically is she going to advocate for on behalf of special needs children? I was genuinely interested at that point. This was an issue that she could identify with, a positive issue she could own, with the opportunity to relate to the viewing public a sound policy for which she would work when she got to Washington. What we found out was that no matter what, we could be sure that it wouldn't be any of that "community organizin'" crap. I guess we'll "Drill, Baby, Drill" for those special needs kids.
Many of the reviews of her speech by independents and women taken from focus groups during the speech have been very negative. While they think she did a good job speeking the majority of them were disappointed in her tone and constant belittling of the opposing candidate.
I’m hoping that we have turned a page where this BS just isn’t going to work anymore. Additionally, many of the people who will be watching McSame tonight still think he is above this sort of thing and will be expecting better out of him. As for me I know what we’ll see – unless his campaign is getting an earful from their internal focus groups they conducted during the speeches last night – and I’m not going to watch. While I’m sure they won’t miss me I just can’t take any more of this same Republican’t BS anymore.
