It's strange that the Republicans spent all summer trying to demystify and take Obama down from his lofty celebrity perch. His popularity, charisma and ability to attract 200,000 people to his speech in Berlin had made him akin to the anti-Christ in their eyes. Enter Sarah Palin. She has stirred up the public's interest and she gives a good speech.
Millions tuned in to hear what this newcomer had to say last night. Suddenly the Republicans and their cohorts in the media have come to the conclusion that she is now on par with Obama. They must have been hitting the meth pipe. Sarah Palin was preaching to the choir last night and the audience said amen. If you attend any megachurch and watch the pastor fire up a crowd, would you compare him to Obama?
Could Sarah Palin attract hundreds of thousand of people from across the continent of Europe to come and hear her speak? Did she attract a massive crowd of 90,000 people last night? Did she build a multicultural movement across America? Did she win over eighteen million votes in the pitch battle of a nomination contest? Does she have a donor list of close to 2,000,000 ordinary Americans? They have begun to believe their own spin. Obama is one of the most powerful orators of our time.
His ideas and his lifelong commitment to fundamentally change Washington have drawn millions of people to his cause. This election is not, and will not, be about Sarah Palin. It is about our broken economy and broken lives and the Republicans will not distract us with the pitbull in a skirt suit.
