This is my first diary here at Kos. Some quick background information on me: I voted for Bush in 2004. I regret most of the voting decisions I made up to this point (there aren't many). My political philosophy could have been summarized with "Me. Me. Me." Something major happened to me between now and then: I recently became a father. Not only did I become a father, I became a single father. I wont go into details, but I became a father in one of the most shocking ways imaginable. Think Jerry Springer, special edition. I was still a college student, just about to graduate. "Me. Me. Me." turned into "Her. Her. Her." My entire paradigm shifted. This change from outrageous behavior and thinking is what I credit to my significantly different political beliefs (A great professor and a massive paper I did on Iraq helped too).
I have been commenting here for awhile and I (as well as others) have noticed how the McCain Campaign's VP nominee seems to have thrown us all off message.
I don't want this to be another Sarah Palin diary (kind of). But, I couldn't help but wonder why this woman is so hyped. Every single factoid about her is a lie. She is not a reformer. She didn't save anyone any money. She doesn't loathe pork. She is a religious fanatic. I'm reminded of how I used to be able to distract my child from something awful, I would present something shiny or pull the "whats that over there!!???" trick. She has since completely wizened up. I wish the public would too.
I digress. I have a suggestion for those much wiser and politically experienced than I am. Stop addressing Sarah Palin, and start addressing the McCain campaign. I have a new name for the McCain campaign's Vice Presidential nominee: The McCain Campaign's VP Pick or any derivative, such as McCain's VP, or how about just The McCain Campaign?
The McCain campaign thinks Iraq is a mission from god.
The McCain campaign's VP hired lobbyists to take YOUR money to Alaska.
The McCain campaign's Vice Presidential nominee doesn't know what a Vice President does.
The McCain campaign doesn't know what Fannie and Freddie's roles are.
This is who Sarah Palin is now. Sarah Palin IS the McCain campaign (I actually went an entire day without hearing anyone mention John McCain was a prisoner of war. Wait...aww man). In my humble opinion, this line of attack hits him, her, and through the beauties of the transitive property, Sarah Palin = John McCain = George Bush. And every last word of it is true.
Be gentle.
