Yesterday I wrote about the need for professionals of all walks of life to seriously consider what we (collectively) can do to help consumers use our chosen profession better and even on a government level as well.
Gov. Patterson has opened the door to talk directly to people. So continuing that theme, more of us professionals should talk directly to people to educate them on how to get the most of what they want.
Examples:
People who are sick want to feel better. They need a pharmacist who will talk to them.
People who farm want to know how to get the most out of government through tax liability reduction and futures/commodities information. They need a securities advisor.
And I'm sure you can think of more examples...and which type of professional can help.
But what govt entity is out there to help? Are there any central locations? Faith Based Initiatives seems like a good place to start, but last year the monies dispersed was nowhere near on an even scale for local churches/organizations.
Think about what you can do to help people understand your expertise/system:
- Bankers for one, sure could start making the process clearer and of course fairer. Look at what happened to Congresswoman Maxine Waters last night. Exposing the devil is always embarrassing, but what about change?
- Insurance companies of all types could do alot to explain how their systems work and how best to use them.
and on and on.
Your ideas?
