I've been closely observing the political talk shows (Sunday AM, CNN and MSNBC in the late afternoon and evenings and as much Fox as I can stomach, which is to say, not much...) My question is, and I hope you can give me some input on this, is why do the most heinous, discredited and thoroughly disgusting Republican hacks still have a place in the conversation? It's a simple question yet a thoroughly vexing one.
Take for example, just the past few days. Tom Delay, quite possibly the most vile pol this side of Cheney, was on Hardball. This guy isn't even IN government anymore. Rove is freaking everywhere (most recently on Stephonopolous's Sunday show.) He is spewing his standard revisionist BS: We inherited deficits and 9/11...note to Karl: Bush was the President when those planes hit the twin towers. Why aren't these thoroughly discredited idiots relegated to Fox?!? Tom freaking Delay gets to spout noise on MSNBC?? Are you farking kidding me???
Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about people with at least SOME sense/intellect participating that I don't necessarily agree with. George Will, for example, or Andrew Sullivan or Hitchens are all able participants that I rarely agree with. Somebody please tell me why people who have been an absolute disgrace are allowed to spew talking points and continue their attempt to avoid being noticed as the people who made the very same mistakes that our current President is now trying to dig us out of? Relegate these fools to Fox, where they belong. The echo chamber is in full effect there.
So I guess what I am asking is basically this: if a former politician/consultant/window washer, whatever has been completely shown to be a crook/flim-flam artist/charlatan/Republican in some past manifestation, why should they be brought onto mainstream shows as the "opposing voice" to "balance the conversation"? Why are they not announced for what they are? If I wanted to listen to what these a**holes had to say I'd watch Fox regularly...
And while I'm on the subject, WTF is Scarborough doing on MSNBC at all? He's completely devoid of thought. He's a gasbag with a repugnant agenda. I haven't laughed harder than when Mika's Dad verbally undressed him on his own show...
For some fun moments from today's G.S. show: "The de-pantsing of Rove thanks to Katrina Vanden Heuvel"
http://www.youtube.com/... (part 1), and http://www.youtube.com/... (part 2)
The look on Rove's face made me jump out of my seat and cheer. You just had your s*** fed back to you. How'd that taste, big guy?
I'd love to hear some feedback on this. I'm fully aware that I'm likely ranting about something that won't change, I just am shocked that they are given a second thought, much less air time to spread lies and distortions.
