In the wake of Obama's vicious betrayal on FISA and of our right to "freedom from unreasonable search and seizure" (read McJoan's on-fire post) I'd like to propose that the Left-Without-a-Home start talking now about exploring and building, early on, a candidacy for the man or woman least likely to betray us in 2012. I want Obama to be challenged from his own party over this, as Jimmy Carter was in 1980 by Ted Kennedy. Dennis Kucinich comes to mind but you may have other suggestions.
How long do we have to eat this shit? I had truly high hopes for Obama, despite my frequent harsh words, but now he is looking just like the rest. The question is are we as a nation ready for the kind of candidates who previously were considered too ahead of their time, or just too honest and idealistic to be taken seriously?
I've been watching with bated breath to see where the balance of good and bad tilts on Obama. The writing on the wall is rapidly starting to spell BETRAYAL.
If a nut like Sarah Palin or Mitt Romney ever takes power, when you combine this with the Military Commissions Act, they will have all the powers of an absolute dictator at their disposal. And Obama will have handed these to them. No one is perfect, but burying the Fourth Amendment once and for all goes beyond occasional pragmatism.
It doesn't have to be Kucinich. I'll settle for a progressive. Anyone? Anyone?
