You read the headline right.
First, I object to hide rating all but the most toxic comments.
Second, if one does hide rate, it should be consistent.
Users here have proved their inconsistency.
Username Democratic Luntz is a homophobe. He responds to comments by gay men by asking if he is being "propositioned."

Democratic Luntz is a prized blogger here. He also posts at Huffington Post.
This site's administration seems to be confused by his behavior. While BarbinMD condemns it, he has not been banned, and his homophobic comments are rescued by his fellow travelers.
So the issue is: Should we treat vile homophobic comments like we treat racist and sexist comments?
Discuss.

Addendum: I realize that this has indeed already been diaried, but I felt kinda dirty after writing a serious diary about Assistant Treasury Secretary for Economic Policy Alan Krueger last night and just had to write something light and fun.
That and Inland promised he'd get a gang together to recommend the diary. He even said he "would be honored to be "FIRST!" to comment in it."
However, Inland worried about who would write such a diary, since it contained nothing about porn. I figured I should fix that.
In Rexburg, I da ho, Mayor Shawn Larsen has proclaimed May to be "White Wristband Against Pornography Month"
Granted, I realize that Idaho believes that sex should only happen in the privacy of public airport restrooms, but this is still kinda ridiculous.
But it gets worse (or better). They are also holding a conference on the subject
Saturday's conference, organized by Citizens for Decency, will feature a variety of speakers, including a state lawmaker, U.S. Attorney Tom Moss and authors and other experts on the subject.
At local high schools this week, students teamed up to hand out more than 900 white wrist bands to remind about the dangers of pornography and growing addiction problems.
Now, I understand the concept of chastity belts to prevent "sin" in the underage. The belts get locked and then you find it a little more incovenient to have sex remain chaste.
But wristbands to remind about pornography addiction? Is the assumption that once a student has begun to enjoy some pornography, their "other activities" will make them notice the wristband, and go, "Hey! Wait! Pornography endangers lives!" and then stop?
Who knows ...
