Day in and day out, the torture advocates cite the ticking time-bomb scenario. "What if," they ask, "we knew that a person was part of a group planning attacks?"
Well, it seems that moment has arrived.
It's true, we have a terrorist in custody, and he has stated that more attacks are planned.
Who is this terrorist? None other than Scott Roeder, who is believed to have killed assassinated Dr. George Tiller for the sole reason that Dr. Tiller provided abortion services.
According to AP reports, Scott Roeder contacted that organization and stated the following:
I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal.
It goes without saying that the torture of Scott Roeder, or any human being, violates the law and our most basic principles. I wonder, however, how Dick Cheney and his fellow torture apologists will distinguish the case of Scott Roeder from the other human beings they have tortured. After all, Dick is the one who claims that the use of enhanced interrogation techniques torture has been enormously valuable in stopping terrorist attacks.
And, last time I checked, abortion was still legal in this country. Which means, according to Scott Roeder, other assassinations are planned.
So, here it is, Dick, your clear and present danger. Shall we commence the waterboarding? The clock is ticking.
