Several years ago, a highly esteemed political consultant gave me some advice that I've been thinking about frequently these days. He said, "find the villians and name them".
So we're going to do just that, day after day.
And I'll be bold enough to say to anyone who may read this, don't be dismissive of what's said on Daily Kos. We are the Democratic Party. We are the American people. We may be a bit louder, but take it to the bank, we articulate the outrage of hard working, tax-paying, beleaguered Americans. Americans whose rage at the denial of healthcare has reached a dangerous boiling point.
I'm talking about Americans who vote and write checks for candidates, and to the
DNC, DSCC and the DCCC.
It is not us out on a limb, but the corporatist and centrist right Democrats who have moved dangerously off the reservation.
If you choose not to heed what is being written and disussed here, you will heed and hear the voters in 2010 or when your time comes to face us.
A DIGG link for your outrage.
Before I go any further, my plea to everyone is: DO NOT STAND DOWN. NOT FOR A DAY, AN HOUR OR A MINUTE. CONTINUE TO BOTHER THEM. PHONE, EMAIL, FAX OR BETTER YET, DO ALL THREE. WE HAVE A FEW MORE WEEKS TO DEMONSTRATE WE MEAN BUSINESS.
SENATOR KAY HAGAN STILL NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU.
MAX BAUCUS NEEDS TO HEAR FROM YOU.
I defy any of you, that's right, Ms. Feinstein, Lieberman, Specter, Nelson, Nelson, Landrieu, Hagan, Baucus, Mr. Bayh (who am I leaving out?) to vote against healthcare for the American people. Imagine, we had an election and these people still don't get it.
Please email every Democrat in the U.S. Senate and demand an answer to these four questions.
The American people defy you to stand against a public option, available on day one and open to all Americans. If you dare to do this, you will be standing against the American people.
Everyone, pleasesign the damn petition.
The anger those of you who are not totally tone deaf and isolated may sense, is of your own doing. It stems from the fact that the dire health needs of the American people have not been on your agenda for fifteen years!
You have egregiously and completely neglected our healthcare (BUT NOT YOUR OWN). The most basic yet consequential service a society owes its citizens is a functional healthcare system. Ours is a catastrophe, you know it. You have turned the other way, as the unregulated insurance industry has unleashed financial ruin on countless millions, and destroyed lives and families. And after all this, you still seek to condemn us to this lawless industry, which shows zero sign of remorse.
When this happens in other countries, the people head into the streets to demand regime change.
Well now healthcare as a right of citizenship is on our agenda. Nothing less than real healthcare reform is acceptable. It is the only issue for many most Americans. You won't deny us healthcare any longer. This is not a threat, this is a fact.
Perhaps our efforts are starting to show a glimmer of hope. So I repeat, DO NOT STAND DOWN.

Dems May Go It Alone on Health Reform
(WASHINGTON) — Democrats generally are standing behind their position that a health care system overhaul must include a government-sponsored plan that would be available to middle-class workers and their families.
A key Democrat, New York Sen. Charles Schumer, said this option now seems even more of a necessity in view of unsuccessful behind-the-scenes attempts to get a deal with Republicans on nonprofit co-ops as an alternative to a public plan.
Schumer told The Associated Press Sunday night that those efforts have proved frustrating, saying that he and his Democratic colleagues now may have to go it alone.
The co-ops were seen as perhaps the last hope for compromise on the notion of a public health care option, a contentious issue that threatens any remaining prospects of bipartisan support for President Barack Obama's sweeping plan to remake the health care system. "I don't think I could say with a straight face that this (co-op proposal) is at all close to a nationwide public option," Schumer, D-N.Y., told The Associated Press on Sunday. "Right now, this co-op idea doesn't come close to satisfying anyone who wants a public plan."

Ignore the polls, we'll defeat you at the polls.
We are listening to every word you utter, Senator Feinstein. No one gets a pass any longer. Do you understand this?
If you try to bait and switch us with a co-op plan which you'll call a public plan, you'll do it at your own peril. We'll see you at the polls.
Cross the American people again, cross the healthcare line in the sand at your own peril. We'll see you at the polls.
Americans are dying.
I suggest we put some spine behind this and start to raise money for primary challenges against any of these traitor Dems. Some may already be facing primary opponents, in which case we need to be sure the opponents are on the record supporting a stong and robust public option.
Probably the first step would be to submit the four questions to anyone already thinking of challenging the DINOS.
This is what a public health plan must look like:
Available to all of us: A strong public health insurance option should be available to anyone who chooses to participate. If you like your current plan, you can keep it; if you want to participate in the public health insurance plan, you can choose that.
A national plan with real bargaining clout: In order to truly control costs and compete with private health insurance plans, a strong public health insurance option must be available nationwide.
Ready on day one: Every day we wait on real reform, health care costs continue to rise. A strong public health insurance option with a broad network of providers right out of the gate is key to building a competitive program that will help control costs.
A truly public plan: To ensure it's held to the highest standards of accountability, a public health insurance option must be truly publicly run—accountable and transparent to Congress and to voters.
I'll leave you with this. FIFTY ONE VOTES.
