Dear Mr. Sajun777:
This isn't my last name obviously.
Thank you for contacting me regarding health care reform and providing a public health care option. I appreciate the time you took to write and welcome the opportunity to respond.
Considering that most of what I wrote was laced with expletives and anger regarding the fact that I work part-time and don't have health insurance I'm a bit shocked that I even got a reply. Still, it took almost two or three weeks to even get a reply, so..
I believe that there is much room for improvement in our nation's health care system. However, I believe that health care reform should not increase the federal deficit. I am deeply concerned about the large number of individuals and families in our country who do not have access to quality health care. This is a problem that touches every community and must be addressed at many different levels, including the Federal, State and local government. This problem is especially acute in California, where nearly 7 million people are uninsured.
Yes DiFi, I'm quite sure you give a damn about the deficit yet you were pretty much complicit in regards to helping Dubya pass everything for the past 8 years. Yet when it comes to something so incredibly important to 70+ percent of all Americans, you suddenly hesitate and need to take a breather to figure out what to do.
The escalating cost of some premiums continues to make obtaining health insurance difficult, if not impossible, for many Americans. I am working hard to remove existing barriers to health care so that all Americans have access to the services they require.
As to what barriers she's referring to, could be anything. Perhaps the barriers for insurance companies to soak my full-time co-workers at my job even further? I just have the uttermost intense cynicism when it comes to this Senator who doesn't seem to have my best interests at heart.
I'm amazed you even care about the deficit when its pretty obvious even to some schmuck like Scarborough that the Republicans not only don't have a clue, but also don't have a plan. That he can rip Michael Steele a new hole without even trying - really is a testament to the epic failure that is conservative ideology right now. What is your brilliant plan DiFi? How the hell are you going to ensure that I can get access to health care? I doubt you have anymore clue than that nutjob Steele does.
One of the many proposals being considered to reform our system is to create a health care plan that is publically operated. Please know that I am reviewing all health care reform options and I will keep your comments in mind as the Senate continues to work to improve health care for all Americans.
Indeed, I'm quite sure you'll keep them in mind as you vote against my wishes and millions of others. I wonder how many more letters I and many others will have to write you to keep you in check.
Again, thank you for writing. If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator
I guess the thought rumbling in my head is this: "How many other people got this exact e-mail?".. Did some staffer, or (dare I say it?) DiFi herself actually read and reply back to me? I really doubt either. Clearly someone actually read my e-mail as it pertains to exactly what I was writing about - the want for a public option.
I grow tired of this weary battle to get basic health insurance. What if I break my arm tomorrow? Who is going to take care of me? I make less than $10k a year and I'm going to school. She just has no idea what it's like to be a human being anymore. She's not just paid a decent Senatorial salary, but she's treated to lavish dinners, breakfasts, and lunches all care of lobbyists who don't give a damn about poor students like me.
The worst part of all of this, is that I agree with many of the people here on dKos. She's doing whatever the hell she wants for her (probably) last term - damn what her constituents want and screw what the American people want. She truly seems to be going for a new standard in how many lobbyists and insurance goons she can possibly make happy to ensure she lives the rest of her days as an extremely wealthy woman.
Someone show me a glimmer of hope right now. I need it.
