While reading estreya's diary about their townhall meeting experience, I noticed a repetive theme emerging from other's experiences. Usually it's a nutjob yelling something they get from FUX News, or something they hear from WhiteRight-Wing radio. Death Palin's Panels, immigration, tax payers paying for abortions, etc. Or my favorite, the Constitutional lawyer, that just happened to never finish their Associate Degree let alone their B.S. scream "Read the Constituion"!!!! I'll talk about that below the jump.
The Preamble of the Constitution states the following.
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Well let me look at this and try to determine what the hell these nutjobs are talking about.
We the People
This goes without saying
in order to form a more perfect union
I guess this is saying to evolve our nation in betterment of our nation
establish justice
I take this as meaning to make laws, enforce laws and everything that goes in that
insure domestic tranquility
To keep the peace on the domestic front
provide for the common defense
The White Right-Wings favorite, the establishment of the military and everything war...
promote the general welfare
BINGO!!!!! Let's see wouldn't that mean they were trying to establish a way to make sure that the interests (health, wealth, and happiness) of all the people of the new union would be respected and protected? When you look at the two words General Welfare, the first thing that comes into mind would be the Public. When discussing welfare
the good fortune, health, happiness, prosperity, etc., of a person, group, or organization; well-being:
is the first definiton that comes up.
secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
These ideals provide our liberty for us and future generation, and they are the cornerstones for the Constitution of the United States....
