Overall, I'm happy that MSNBC has largely become a counterweight to the Fake News network. But I just saw a clip from MSNBC which reminded me of the kind of editing stunts I have seen so many times on FOX News
What you'll notice in the clip is that it is edited in such a way so that you cannot see that the man holding the gun at an Obama event is black. Meanwhile, the panel is discussing the surge of anger we're seeing at town hall events and Contessa Brewer says
Also there are questions about whether this has racial overtones. I mean here you have a man of color in the presidency and white people showing up with guns strapped to their waists
Now here is the video clip I had seen previously showing a black man holding a rifle at an Obama event. It is clear that this is the same man as in the above video shown on MSNBC only this time, at the end, the camera pans and you can see that he is black.
To be the most generous, perhaps she and the editors at MSNBC haven't seen the video of the black man holding a rifle at the Obama town hall event. However, it is hard to believe that none of the producers or panelists associated with the program were aware that one of the two people holding a gun at the Obama town hall was a black guy. Watching the clip made me feel like I was watching a FOX News clip with the shenanigans of labeling republicans with ethical problems with a (D) next to their name.
We don't do that. Or at least we shouldn't.
Now, there is no question that some of the people opposing President Obama are driven by racism. But you really shouldn't selectively edit footage to try and paint the false picture that it is only white people showing up with guns. That is simply fudging the data.
If you'd like to contact MSNBC to let them know that this is unacceptable, you can do so here:
