Once again, Rachel blows my mind. She is an amazing interviewer, night after night after night. Tonight, she was as good as I've ever seen her, taking on Tom Ridge, former Secretary of Homeland Security.
Last night's transcript
h/t to codeman38 for the link to the transcript
Rachel does 3 separate segments with Tom Ridge, discussing Katrina http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...
as well as politics and terror
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...
Every segment contains great, hard-hitting questions. I particularly like her referencing
the vaguely creepy brand name of homeland security
with the guy who was the first Secretary of Homeland Security.
She discusses with former Secretary Ridge such things as the raising of the terror threat level shortly before the 2004 election.
For me, the most amazing thing is the courtesy she shows Ridge while she is holding his feet firmly in the fire.
She did an amazing segment on Katrina, honoring the anniversary. He dodges and weaves a bit, but accepts some blame. Then, of course, he dumps a ton of blame on the locals.
Mostly I was impressed that she kept him on for so long, treating him with courtesy while still asking him the hard questions. And, of course, I wonder how amazing she would be on MTP instead of worthless David Gregory.
UPDATE: Gleeps, my first Recc'd diary, thanks! And here's a video of Rachel on MTP (fast forward through David Gregory's parts!)
Update 2: Extra bonus West Wing video: Sam's getting beat up by a girl. Because, you know, Secretary Ridge is getting beaten up by a girl.
