I’ll bet I’m not the only Kossack who is unwillingly single and unattached. I’ve been sashaying around the online meet-markets for about 18 months now, ever since the Love-of-my-Life ran off with a nurse. As a resident of Cincinnati, an area known for its Rightwing Fundy core, I have zero interest in hiding my left-leaning self from a potential partner—The whole idea of "partner" to me means someone I respect, with whom I can get along. I happen to be an old gal, but I’ll bet my Obama08 button that single Kossacks of both genders, any lifestyle, & every age occasionally contemplate (gasp) dating a Republican. See here and here.
So, as Obama has promised to lead us toward a post-partisanship era, I’ve vowed to expand my opportunities for companionship, pleasurable moments, and (possibly) passion in a pan-partisan manner, while retaining or enhancing my Democratic principles.
Come with me below the fold, to view my personal guidelines in this adventure (and, of course, to take the poll!)
My potential Republican Date MUST:
- Be taller than I am. (since I’m 4’10-1/2", this isn’t tough.)
- Accept fact that I am a lifelong Democrat and will never change except to switch registrations if some really creepy Republican is running in a primary & I want to interfere. (I did this with McCain vs Bush in 2000. Alas, it didn’t work.)
- Be really, really smart and articulate. (Hmm, is this possible for a Republican? Well, maybe.)
- Be within 15 yrs younger, 10 years older than I. (What’s good for the Gander is good for the Goose.)
- Absolutely NOT be a social conservative, bigot, or fundamentalist.
- Read books.
- NOT watch Limbaugh, Hannity etc. except for amusement.
- Be appalled by Bush administration’s position on torture, Habeus Corpus, secrecy etc.
- Believe the Iraq war was a horrible, indefensible, mistake.
- Accept the reality of global warming, that the earth is more-or-less round, and that the Holocaust did happen.
- Be kind, honorable, affectionate and all those other admirable qualities that are natural attributes of males who are Democrats. :)
- Enjoy discussing politics—and lots of other topics, too—in the same room with me. Not just online. Face to face encounters are essential.
- Pay for dinner out. (BTW, I love to cook. I’ll do some cooking to even things up.)
So how about it, gang? What has been YOUR experience, dating "across the aisle"? Was it successful? A disaster? Now is the time to share life’s more ludicrous moments on the route to lasting lascivious behavior...
Please take the poll, and add your comments & thoughts below. And remember, when it comes to Kossack happiness, if the only dateables in sight are Republicans...Do We Dare? Yes We Can!
