So I get in to work this morning and everyone is talking about the Super Bowl and what kind of cheese dip they’re serving at their little get-togethers, which leads to a 20-minute discussion of velveeta and spam. Many of these are people haven’t paid attention to football for the entire season (and why should they – they live in Seattle) and it was all I could do to not shout “who gives a shit?”
Now, I’m all for distractions, especially during the times in which we live, but when “Mall Cop” is the top movie in America for two weeks running and people clamor around their TVs to watch a rather dull matchup when they have no interest in football in the first place, I pause and wonder “what the hell is wrong with America?”
Okay, I realize this is not a pressing matter, but I felt like a little rant on a Friday morning.
For the record, I’ll be at a gathering of friends where we’ll be catching up with each others’ lives at a lovely little restaurant in Queen Anne, hopefully with no tv.
