...No matter what you do for them or what you say, it won't be a two way street. Obama's tax cuts to "bring in bipartisan support" to the tune of 300BN is an unneccessary ass kissing. In 2006 we gave a sweeping mandate to Congress which they've squandered by worrying over what the Repugs would think. I see the same thing happening again. The time for showing respect/ appreciation for an organization that has been proactive at disdaining the needs of the people on one hand and emptying their pockets with the other has got to stop.
We're starting to get a glimmer of what's in store for us come February. Because the ignorati sent enough Rs back to the Senate, we have to listen to the mantra of threats for filibusters and other obstructionist manueverings in an attempt to thwart any rapid and meaningful solutions to the current dilemmas.
One of the big things on the unenlightened side of the isle is continuing tax cuts, more tax cuts- in other words, the same shit that helped get us into this mess. I realize a small biz might need some relief here and there, but they ain't hiring right now anyway, and neither is anyone else. So please, Mr.O, let's back burner that and the other cuts for now. That money HAS to go to direct stimulus, you know shovels in the ground.
Let's put the folks back to work. We're nearly 17% real unemployed or underemployed, more if you count the non jobs at Wal Mart and the other useless big box stores. And, it's turning into a torrent now.
Tax breaks aren't much use if you aren't working. Tax breaks are of little value if your business is folding.
Real unemployment is skyrocketing as wallets close and purses slam shut. I hear that 70% of our economy is consumer driven. Mr. Obama, we aren't shopping anymore because our job is next up. But it's really worse. As we exported jobs, we retrained. Then those jobs were exported and exported. What's left are the paper shuffling and bullshit jobs that you have to have three of at a time to pay one rent.
So instead of all these tax breaks, lets focus intently on real paying PUBLIC sector work revamping our parks, grids, mass transit, green projects et al.
The WPA worked, Mr. President. Find another Harry Hopkins to run it and ram the program through Capitol Hill. Yes the Pugs will squeal, they did the last go 'round too, (in 1933) but it worked. It has to be done now, quick, before the Chinese pull the plug on their T-bill buying.
Since 20 mule team Ray Gun took office in '81, our gov't has taken a pistol whipping when it comes to the needs of Everyman. Got a lot of reversing to do and we know you can't get it all done in the First One Hundred Days. But swerving to the right only delays what is going to have to be done if the nation is to survive.
Ditch the tax cuttery and move $$$ into more productive uses. Use the bully pulpit and call on us to blizzard and barage recalcitrant Pugs, Blue Dogs and "fiscal conservatives". They've had their day, had their say and look where we are.
82% of us are behind you, the rest fell for Palin's winks and failed third grade anyway. You said " Yes We Can". Let us help you "Make It So".
