We lead with this item from a Republican blog. I am regularly asked--how can this kook be accepted as a conservative spokesman by the trad media and the GOP rank and file. Every so often, we must put on the glasses with Republican prism lenses and see how conservatives view this individual we long ago wrote off as a dangerous kook.
So here we go. Hold on to your brains, because there's O'Reilly video, too. From a blog called GOP 12: (continued)
Bill O'Reilly asks Michele Bachmann if looks play a role.
O'Reilly: Do you think -- and this is an off-the-wall question -- and I'm telling the audience it's just something that's occurred to me. Both you and Sarah Palin are good looking women...
As has been said, Sarah Palin is not Sarah Palin if she looks like Janet Napolitano. You can call that sexist; or you can call it realist...
...The difference between Palin and Bachmann is that the latter is quick on her feet and eloquent, with a good grasp of the issues. (Editor's note: No, no, wait Kos readers! There's more...)
She might be worried that the Left is trying to "Palinize" her and they probably are, but she's not easily Palinized, because she's not Sarah Palin. Think about the difference between a Bachmann v Couric and Palin v Couric interview...

My commentary on this blog post would be superfluous. Please do your own. But as I wrote to a commenter last night:
There are several different realities that these (conservatives) have created for themselves--there's what they say, what they actually believe despite what they say, what happened last week, what they say happened last week, what they are told to say and think this week (which may be contradictory to what they were told to say and think last week.) And of course, there are the realities that we all have to deal with (the economy, the actual conservative record in office, etc.) which contradict most of the above list.
And here's the video of O'Reilly with "La Bachmann," during which O'Reilly says she seems like a nice woman to him and Bachmann says MSNBC is stalking her and O'Reilly says it just occured to him that Sarah Palin and Michele are attractive and would look good in falafel (just kidding about the last part.)
Next:
The DNC is rounding up the Politifact "liar, liar, pants on fire" file about Bachmann and circulating that and other media fact checks, via email and video. There is a lot in there, too much for me to print here. But here's the link, and some excerpts. This may answer O'Reilly's question about why Dems are "targeting her." She's a goddamn liar, on important issues, regularly, and in some cases the kind of lies she tells could inspire some right wing nuts to kill people "in self-defense or defense of American freedom."

The excerpts from the email announcing the Bachmann stuff:
Washington, D.C. - Today, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) launched the fourth installment of its "Call 'Em Out" campaign with a multimedia effort targeting Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann for continuing to spread lies about health insurance reform.
The effort uses a website, video, Facebook, and Twitter to show that instead of participating in an honest exchange on health insurance reform, Rep. Bachmann has resorted to spreading misinformation. Rep. Bachmann’s lies have included claims that reform would create death panels, sex clinics in schools, insurance coverage for illegal immigrants and much more. Of Bachmann’s six statements that PolitiFact has rated, all have been rated either "false" or "pants on fire" false.
An email describing Bachmann’s mistruths and unveiling a new web video: "Michele Bachmann: Pants on Fire" was sent to the millions of activists on the DNC's email list from Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon this morning. In the email, O'Malley Dillon asks supporters to take action by calling out Rep. Bachmann on Facebook and Twitter and by calling Rep. Bachmann’s Washington office...
Look at that link, above. They go point by point, listing the lies. And they're serious lies that we've all objected to here; they're not just lies about "picking your feet in Poughkeepsie." Bachmann is a major conduit for that kind of disinformation crap.
A colleague of mine on the Minnesota Progressive Project blog raised only one objection to this DNC effort. He criticized the DNC for writing that Bachmann "has resorted to spreading misinformation." My colleague is right: She's not "resorting" to anything--since her earliest days in politics, lies have been the weapon of choice for this politician.
