The man we all love to hate, Glenn Beck still continues to chug hatefully along. I was hoping that the retreat of most of his large advertisers would have an affect, but so far none. Of course, boycotts rarely work, but I am still hoping that this is one of those rare cases. In any case I recently received an email from ColorofChange.org regarding the major companies who continue to advertise on his show. Those companies include Target, Orbitz, Warner Bros and Citrix Systems.
I chose to focus my attention on Orbitz, because I have used their service in the past. The contact name ColorofChange.org provides is Brian Hoyt, Vice President for Corporate Communications & Government Affairs for Orbitz. You can voice your opposition to Orbitz' advertising on the Glenn Beck show by calling Mr. Hoyt at 312-894-6890 or email him at bhoyt@orbitz.com.
I went to the Orbitz website and also found that Orbitz is also made up of the following entities:
Cheaptickets.com
ebookers.com
Hotelclub.com
RatestoGo.com
Away.com
Asia-Hotels.com
So please avoid all of these online travel agents as well.
Here is my letter to Mr. Hoyt.
I recently found out that Orbitz continues to advertise on the show of Glenn Beck. Of all the shows you could pour your advertising dollars into, you choose this individual. Mr. Beck continues to spew vile hate and this does not offend your company. He calls the President of the US a racist and this does not alter your opinion. He recently tried to politicize the Yom Kippur Jewish Holiday and still this did not sway you from pulling your ad dollars from this divisive and hate filled individual.
I realize that all US citizens do not have the same political beliefs and opinions, but Mr. Beck's show is not discussing politics. It is simply dishing out lies and hate. It is catering to the lowest in human emotions, that being fear and hate.
I hope you and Orbitz will finally pull your ads from Mr. Beck's show and come to your senses. His dialogue has no place on the public airwaves. In the meantime, I have decided to pull my own travel dollars out of Orbitz or any of the other Orbitz entities. There are a myriad of places to book online and making a switch to another travel agency is quite simple. Yes, I might have to pay a few dollars more in some cases, but believe me my conscience will be quite clear knowing that I am not supporting a hate monger like Mr. Beck.
Again, I hope Orbitz will do the right thing in the immediate future.
Overall I think moving your dollars out of Orbitz or one of their affiliates would be fairly easy. There are so many online booking agencies that it really should not be too troublesome to find another. Off the top of my head there is Travelocity, Expedia, Priceline, Hotwire, and the list goes on. So lets keep the pressure on Fox, so that we can hopefully silence this dangerous and vile individual.
