Un-fucking-believable.
Today on MSNBC, during the 3-4 p.m. hour, Sen. Mary Landrieu (DINO-La.) was interviewed by Tamron Hall about President Obama's upcoming Gulf Coast trip. Then, the subject of health care reform came up.
That's when the Senator showed her true colors, and none of those is blue. I'm thinking Republican red, insurance company green, and coward's yellow. Although, on that last point, she deserves some credit: She has some BALLS when it comes to insulting hard-working American people who can't afford health insurance.
Near the end of the interview, Hall brought up a statement by her previous guest, Howard Dean: "What's the point in having a 60-vote majority in the Senate if you can't get the public option passed? That is health care reform, not insurance reform, and that is what the American people want."
To which Sen. Corporate-Lapdog replied:
"I just don't agree with him on his statement that unless you have a public option, you can't have real reform And if you're not for a public option, you're for insurance companies, you know, scamming taxpayers. (note: she does an indignant mock-wagging of the head here)
"I'm proud to say this as a 'Democrat,'" she continued. "I believe in the private sector. I don't believe in government running every program for everybody."
Hall asked Landrieu if she's seen recent polling that shows overwhelming support for a public option, and here's the kicker:
"I think that when people hear 'public option,' they hear 'free health care.' Everybody wants free health care. Everybody wants health care they don't have to pay for. The problem is that we as government and business have to pick up the tab, and as individuals. So I'm not at all surprised that the public option has been sold as free health care. But there is no free lunch."
"No free lunch."
Ummm... so who's been selling the public option as a "free lunch," anyway? Fox News, maybe? The Teabaggers? Dick Armey?
What a lying tool she is. What can you expect from a politician who has received $1,668,693 from health care and insurance interests throughout her federal political career (http://www.campaignmoney.org/healthcare/landrieu).
Call Landrieu today and let her know what you think about that "free lunch" bullshit:

It might be difficult getting through. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who caught that comment.
(Did anyone grab video, by the way?)
