This is going to be a short diary.
I notice that the top recommended diary here is essentially calling the Huffington Post right wing.
Why?
Because Sam Stein and Ryan Grim (who have a long history of good writing, most of which a liberal progressive would normally support) wrote an article claiming that the Obama White House repeatedly claims in public to support a "public option" for health care reform. However in private, has been actively opposing attempts to include that provision.
This has been reported by numerous sources, including a few on the record (for example by Tom Harkin).
Just look at their home page today (and any day) -- only a blind faith supporter of Barack Obama could call the Huffington Post "right wing."
I will give examples below the jump.
Yes, they aren't perfect. Their infatuation with celebrity and nudity is clear as soon as you go there. Sensationalism is definitely their thing. But just look at some of the articles and stories they link to. . . .EVERY freaking day.
Here is their top story:
"Fareed Zakaria: Obama Should Weigh Troop Level Carefully" ( a link to WaPo column by Zakaria ) Admittedly Zakaria is no progressive, but he is calling for doing something that most conservatives don't want to do.
another one in the center of their FP:
Debtors' Revolter [sic] To Chase Bank: "Are You Stupid?" As you know, debtor's revolts aren't normally sponsored by the Republican party.
This seems like a republican talking point:
Main Street Lags Far Behind Wall Street In Recession Recovery
And this is how they show their love for the Bush family!!!
Obama Family Photo By Annie Leibovitz Released
What scares me the most about this non story being on the rec list is this: Are we almost exactly like the Bush Followers?
If someone criticizes Obama or shows where he is wrong, we will attack the source of the criticism?
Come on people. Unlike the conservatives, progressives allow for harsh criticism of their leadership (heck its part of the definition of being "progressive").
