The above photo was on a Republican National Committee website for almost a week.
From Raw Story:
The photo's caption read: "Miscegenation is a CRIME against American Values. Repeal Loving v. Virginia."
Miscegenation refers to the "marriage or cohabitation between a man and woman of different races." Loving v. Virginia was a landmark Supreme Court case that, in 1967, struck down all of the US's laws against interracial marriage.
This is where Republicans are at in the year 2009. I do want to emphasize that it was not RNC site administrators who posted the photo, though Raw Story notes that it was up for five days before it was finally deleted, and then only at the insistence of the posters at Democratic Underground who discovered it.
Here's another lovely picture from the same place, also since removed:
For those who can't tell, that's John Kerry with a gun to his head.
Again, these photos were posted by users, and not, apparently, anyone directly affiliated with the RNC. However, as already noted, the photos were left up for several days, and were only removed when they happened to be discovered by Democrats. This is either sloppy administration by those who run the site (whoa, sloppy administration by a Republican? Get out!), or said administrators simply didn't mind having them there.
I wonder what other hidden gems lie within the bowels of Republican Facebook pages? And are they always this slow to take them down?
